Maybe
you too are an independent artist who is trying to find your
way through the precincts that make up the vast wasteland of
the entertainment industry. wilderness knows the struggle well.
We have worked at developing Jesus Johnny for almost fifteen
years… starting in earnest with the release of “The
Hurt and Healing” in 1998. The experience has had its
rewards, none of which have been monetary. So regrettably we
are not producing any other projects at this time. Instead,
we are committed to focusing 100% of our efforts and resources
on the current objective… “Redemption Road”.
We
can however, share some of the lessons learned along the way.
The “record deal” does not exist. You will NEVER make
any money selling CDs. Your recording is an advertisement for
your artistry. The more people who are aware of you - increases
your marketability. Ticket sales for live shows and merchandising
are the revenue generating mediums today. The representation of
a good agent is very desirable and can only be achieved if you
have a fan base. That’s it… period… the end.
The
decision to follow a course in music must first and foremost come
from the desire for personal satisfaction, with no connection
to monetary gain. Otherwise the resolve could prove MORE DIFFICULT
than a degree from Harvard or Princeton, which would ultimately
provide the financial rewards desired. Tenacity is important.
Keep at it!
